How do guests join WiFi with a QR code?
They open their phone camera, point it at the QR code, and tap the WiFi notification that appears. The phone fills in the network name and password automatically and joins — no typing needed.
Is it safe to share my WiFi password this way?
For guests, yes — it is more secure than reading a password aloud or leaving it on a whiteboard. Anyone who can scan the code can join, so for extra privacy consider a separate guest network for visitors.
Does this work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. iPhones running iOS 11 or later can join WiFi from a QR code using the built-in Camera app, and most Android phones (Android 10 and later) support it in the camera or WiFi settings. Older devices may need a free QR scanner app.
What if my network is hidden?
Tick the “Hidden network” checkbox before generating. The QR code then includes the hidden flag (H:true), so phones know to look for a network that isn't broadcasting its name.
Is my WiFi password sent to a server?
No. The QR code is generated entirely in your browser — your network name and password never leave your device.
